Project: Create a Media Item for Reflection

For this assignment we were to create a piece in which we highlighted and reflected upon the work of at least six of our colleagues in our class. The goal was to describe what we have learned so far in the course and what we plan to learn before the end of class.

I continue to be amazed by the blogging creativity of my fellow classmates and by the quality and quantity of digital stories I’ve discovered online. It used to be that there were only a handful of texts to look at, and now there are so many wonderful examples that I could not in my lifetime cover them all. And they continue to be created every day by ordinary people. Seriously, it’s the common people like Portia Jackson in Working Motherhood who work hard in their fields that take the time to do a podcast that I am most interested in (Go WoMos!). They aren’t rock stars or trying to be famous, but they have in common the enjoyment of what they do and want to share it with the rest of the world. I’m so appreciative of this. And I LOVED the digital story The Boat by Nan Le. I had given up on short stories until I ran across this media. It’s powerful and beautiful, but short and easy to engage; I’d love to see more stories like this.
